2. Identify the subject, verb, direct object or complement in each clause in the following sentences. Underline the subject, boldface the verb, and italicize the direct object or complement. Indicate whether the verb is completed by a direct object, predicate nominative or predicate adjective.
a. In some rural areas, people believe the devil makes them sick.
b. They dose themselves with turpentine to cure worms and tie a dirty sock around their neck to treat a sore throat.
c. Doctors should know about these cultural and religious beliefs of their patients.
d. The American Bar Association has said it will not rate future judicial candidates on ideology or politics, but the ABA's critics say the advisory group could still kill the nominations of qualified conservatives.
e. A young woman wanted to tell the invading soldiers that they were unwelcome in her city.
f. Thinking they wouldn't shoot a woman, she walked fearlessly toward their lines.
g. They fired. She fell. A bullet wound turned her white shirt scarlet.
