While performing such simple tasks as brushing-teeth or tossing back a drink, Young adults have suffered strokes by causing trauma to one of 4 main arterys supplying blood to the brain doctors reported.
A 32 year old woman recently suffered a stroke after playing a drinking game in which she tossed back several shotsof whiskey, according to a lettter published today by the New England Journal of Medicine.
"It was not only the alcohol but the manner in which she consumed it said Dr. Richard Trosch, a neurology resident at the yale university School of Medicine.
Knocking back a shot of whiskey shouldbe include among a list of potential stroke-causing "trivial traumas," including old whip lash injuries, child birth, lifting heavy, brushing teeth and diving into water Trosch wrote.
Trosch said young adults was particularly prone to damageing the extracranial carotid artery a vein through which bloood is pumped from the heart to teh brain
