6. The public relations department of an insurance company is preparing a brochure to promote life insurance sales. A selling point will be the cost of raising a child from birth to age 17. Decide which type of informational graphic is most appropriate for this information and use the following figures to create a graphic.

A middle-income family raising a child born in 1995 can expect to spend $7,610 on the child in 1995; $8,020 in 1996; $8,450 in 1997; $9,140 in 1998; $9,640 in 1999; $10,160 in 2000; $10,790 in 2001; $11,370 in 2002; $11,990 in 2003; $12,620 in 2004; $13,300 in 2005; $14,020 in 2006; $16,130 in 2007; $17,000 in 2008; $17,920 in 2009; $19,170 in 2010; $20,210 in 2011; $21,300 in 2012 when the child is 17 years old and ready for college. These figures come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion and assume an average annual inflation rate of 5.4 percent.
