Matching Learning Goals and Learning Theory

Do you have three checks for each learning theory? Now check and make sure that you matched the goal with the learning theory that would provide the most appropriate instructional approach.

Behaviorist theory is best applied to goals 1, 5, and 8. Cognitive theory is best applied to goals 3, 4, and 6. Constructivist theory best matches goals 2, 7, and 9.

If you had any difficulty matching the goal and the learning theory, go back over the chapter, discuss your responses with a peer, or read some additional information about learning theories.
