Family and Community Collaborations

Count the number of checks you have. If you have three or more, you are well on your way to understanding and appreciating the potential contributions of family and community to your work with children. If you have very few checks, you may want to plan ways for you to learn more about the community where your school is located.
 
     
 
Visit local community centers
Work with boys and girls clubs
Coach a community sports team
Serve on neighborhood committee
Tutor in adult or child literacy programs
Attend community functions and celebrations
Tutor in an after-school program
Volunteer at a homeless shelter
Volunteer in low-income child care facilities
