The goal of this exercise is to help you learn about the specific kinds of writing you are likely to do in your career.

The Task

Identify a piece of communication you might write for the job you have now, or for the job you will have after you graduate. This might take a little research: consider calling or e-mailing someone who has a job in the field into which you are going to enter when you graduate. Ask that person what sort of writing he or she does while on the job.

Be prepared to share your writing with the class.
