The Ending of the Report

When buying printers, as in almost any major purchase, two basic questions must be answered:

  1. Will the purchase meet your needs?
  2. Are costs within budget goals?

Our approach in preparing the recommendations in this report was to start answering these questions in the offices at EDS where the printing work is done. In addition, we have thoroughly researched the marketplace and reviewed the latest technology in dot-matrix, ink-jet, and laser printers. Based on this investigation, we have recommended a carefully tailored set of printers for each division that will maintain an effective balance between operating costs and capability and allow for sufficient growth in printing production over the next decade.

With these recommendations, EDS should be able to meet the desktop printing requirements of each division and comfortably remain within your budget goals. Using our conclusions regarding divisional needs and reviewing "Points to Consider Before Buying" at attachment 2, your buyers will have the information they need to make a successful purchase.
