The goal of this exercise is to give you experience preparing a brief oral presentation that you planned by making a storyboard for it.
The Exercise
Using the storyboard created in Exercise 17.1, prepare an oral presentation that is between five to seven minutes long.
During this presentation, you should introduce yourself, tell your listeners what your major is, and briefly explain what you would like to do with your degree when you graduate. You can assume that your audience is a group of incoming freshmen who are uncertain what they want their majors to be as they begin their academic career.
You are encouraged to use presentation software, such as Microsoft PowerPoint, if your classroom environment permits.
The Planning Guide for Creating and Delivering Oral Presentations can be downloaded and/or printed for use with this exercise. You might find it helpful in organizing your thoughts and ensuring that you follow the guidelines in Chapter 17.
*Be prepared to give your presentation to the class.
