- The 1930s witnessed the birth of a labor movement that resulted in major reforms in the treatment of workers. What do you think some of these reforms included?
- Why did these labor movements and their corresponding tactics grow so intensely, all across the country? What kind of economic and social climate would allow working conditions to get to these extremes?
- In this video segment, you can see the massive groups of laborers partaking in strikes, and actual attacks on places of employment, along with the armed response of militia called on to respond to the strikers. Why was the activism of workers so passionate at this time in history?
- If you were a business owner during this time period, would you feel that you were responding fairly towards your unsatisfied and frustrated employees? What would you have done differently to prevent strikes of your workers?
- Who were "strike breakers?" Why do you think they did not participate in the strikes and outright attacks on employers?
