Most local governments have commissions or boards that regulate certain local activities. Members are usually appointed by local elected officials.
1. List examples of local commissions. City and county government should be able to provide this information to you.
2. Given your skills, interests, and background, which commission is of the greatest interest to you? Why?
3. What exactly does this commission do? What benefits or compensation does it offer to its members?
4. How are members selected for this commission?
5. What would be the process for you to be considered for selection?
6. Would you actually want to serve? Why or why not?
