Participation Activity 1

You can lobby Congress!

1. Find an issue you feel strongly about. It can be a general policy, such as support for the Israeli government or the Palestinians, or it can entail a specific piece of legislation moving through Congress, or you can propose a specific policy that a legislator can then seek to enact through legislation.

2. Go to http://www.speakout.com and click on the "Activism" link. It takes you to the "Tips for Effective Activism" page. Use the ten tips provided here to guide you through the process of (hopefully) making a difference.

3. What was the exact path you took to make your views known? What happened at each step?

4. Are you satisfied with the responses you received? Did you make a difference?
