Participation Activity 1

President George W. Bush has his own Web site. Check it out at http://www.whitehouse.gov/.

Have a look at the descriptions of the president’s policies at the site.

1. Find a policy about which you and the President of the United States have a significant difference of opinion.

2. Contact the holder of the highest office in the land in one of three ways: by phone, snail mail, or e-mail. (Look for the "Contact" link at the bottom of the home page.) Make your presentation clear and concise, and be sure to ask for what you want: a policy change. (See "Tips for Effective Activism" under the "Activism" link at http://www.speakout.com.)

3. What response did you get? How does it make you feel?

If you'd like a print-out of your responses, click on the Submit button below, and you will be taken to a printer-friendly page.
