One way to influence media is to let the people who run it know how you think their output can be improved.
1. Read through the last 30 to 60 days of your local paper. Identify an area in which you think is deficient, either in providing slanted coverage of an issue, or ignoring or inadequately covering an issue.
2. Contact the editor of the paper via letter, e-mail, or on the phone. Politely describe what you see as the problem and give suggestions for improvement.
3. Did you receive a response? If so, what?
4. Do you feel that your input had some impact? If so, in what ways?
