Countries in the developing world typically have inefficient and corrupt governments, fairly low standards of living, and an economy that is primarily focused on agriculture, production of primary products, or light industry. Some developing countries practice democracy, but many are only partly democratic or are controlled by authoritarian rulers. A few developing countries have strong economic growth, while others are the poorest states in the world. This category includes most states in Africa and many in Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
