The industrialized democracies have free and fair elections, a high degree of freedom for citizens, and efficient government administrations. They also have well-developed economies that feature a strong industrial base, advanced technologies, and a large service sector. Given their economic and military power, the industrialized democracies—especially the United States—dominate world affairs.

The industrialized democracies include nearly all the states of Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. This site focuses on Britain, France, Germany, Japan, and the European Union.
