Britain’s Trade Union Congress
Interest groups in Britain generally have far less influence than interest groups in the United States, largely because one party controls the government and exercises a high degree of party discipline, leaving individual Members of Parliament with little influence over policy. However, a few groups are tightly linked to political parties and thus have more influence. One such group is the Trade Union Congress, by far the largest labor organization in Britain, which is closely associated with the Labour Party. The Labour Party has many ideological similarities with the moderate and liberal wings of the Democratic Party.

4. What are current issues of concern for the AFL-CIO?
