The Persian Gulf War, 1991

Prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, this conflict was the most extensive armed engagement for the United States since the Vietnam War. Use the various theoretical tools of international relations to explain why Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and why President George Bush the elder constructed the American-led coalition, and also to examine the conduct and aftermath of the war. (See the theory chapter of your text book, and chapters related to war.)
