Can People Learn from History?

You are a student at Oxford University in London, England. You are also a member of the world's most famous debating society, the Oxford Union. Today, at the Union, there is debate between two eminent scholars: one a Professor of History from Harvard University named Herbert Pangloss. The other is a Professor of Political Science from the University of Chicago named Votek Dolinski.

The topic under debate is: "Can human beings learn from history?" Dr. Pangloss will be arguing that people can learn from history while Dr. Dolinski will make the case that they cannot.
