Realism versus Liberalism

You are a student in an international relations class at Harvard University. Your professor, Christopher Deckard, has set up an in-class debate between himself and a rival scholar named Thomas Crowley III. The topic under debate is this: which international relations theory-classical realism or liberalism-best explains the way world politics REALLY works. Professor Deckard will defend classical realist theory while Professor Crowley will make the case for liberalism (or what some also refer to as idealism or utopianism).
