- Ethical obligations require that we offer a full explanation of our study any time we use deception, but debriefing is a good idea for any research study.
- Always begin debriefing with a simple thank you.
- Different debriefing formats can be used, but face-to-face debriefing allows you to answer questions and learn about participants experiences in the study.
- Write and memorize a script. This helps you to consistently explain your study to all study participants.
