Effective surveys require a logical structure and visual clarity. While other workshops address question content and structure (see Operational Definition workshop) and general issues in survey research (see Survey workshop), this workshop emphasizes how to put a survey together that will appeal to participants and facilitate data collection.

Why Is This Important?
The world is full of “bad” surveys. Think about surveys that you have taken in magazines or on the Internet that seemed obviously biased or difficult to understand. There are general principles of good survey design that, when applied, can result in better surveys.
