Face to Face Interviews:

• Pro: Can establish rapport
• Con: Responses can be biased by interviewer.
  Participants may be reluctant to answer sensitive questions out of embarrassment or fear of disapproval.
  

Written Responses:

• Pro: Easy and cheap for large groups. Can answer sensitive questions in a private location.
• Con: Response rate may be low for mailed surveys. Illiterate participants can’t complete the survey. You can clarify items that might be confusing to participants.
