As with all other statistics, you compare the calculated chi-square value with the tabled value. If you exceed the tabled value, you have significance. In our example, there are two groups. At an alpha level of .05, the tabled value of the chi-square is 3.84. When we looked at 10 managers, the chi-square value was .4; this is clearly not significant.
What about with 100 managers. Is the difference between male and female managers statistically significant? Explain.
