Measures of Association as Additional Statistics

  • How powerful is the association between your categories?

  • Are they really good predictors?

  • This is similar to evaluating the magnitude of an r2 (r = Pearson's correlation coefficient) where as the value approaches 1.0, you achieve better and better prediction.

  • There are different measures of association (as these statistics are called) depending on the type of data that you have.

  • Data type refers to the classic distinctions:
