Let's assume that it was possible to randomly select an infinite number of samples of 5 subjects from the same uniform population. If we did this and calculated the mean of each of these samples, the distribution would look similar to the distribution below. We call this a distribution of an infinite number of sample means or the "sampling distribution of the mean".
